A Los Angeles metropolis councilor and a former dean of the College of Southern California had been charged Wednesday on federal corruption costs associated to a bribery program, authorities stated.

The 20-point indictment names councilor Mark Ridley-Thomas, 66, and Marilyn Louise Flynn, 83, the previous dean of the USC College of Social Work. Thomas is accused of getting “supported state contracts and profitable contract modifications with the college” in change for companies for a relative in 2017 and 2018, the Ministry of Justice stated.

Each are charged, respectively, with conspiracy, bribery, double “sincere service” mail fraud, and 15 instances “sincere service” switch fraud.

“These indictments accuse a senior lawmaker of allegedly abusing the general public’s belief by taking official measures to learn himself and his member of the family,” Performing US Lawyer Tracy L.
